Stop Smoking Cold Turkey - Is it Possible?
By Michael Fisher
Trying to stop smoking cold turkey is possible if you have the willpower and a very strong desire. Smoking is very much a psychological addiction as well as a drug addiction. So to answer the question, can you do it? Yes. Will it be very difficult? Yes. Nicotine stays in the body for 72 hours after you stop smoking.
Getting past the first three days is the hardest part. Once you can do that, It's the psychological battle you have to deal with. The best thing I would to do keep yourself busy and have plenty of healthy snacks around when you get the craving to smoke. Grab a piece of fruit instead of a cigarette, your body will thank you for it. That's what I did, and it really helped. I weaned down to 4 cigarettes a day, then walked away, but I kept sugar free gum and chewed it when I wanted a cigarette. Stay away from high calorie candies, that is part of the weight gain that everybody knows will happen when you begin your journey to a smoke free life.
Smokers tend to flock and socialize, so If you have many smoking buddies at work, it is best to stop on a Friday. This will give you the first three days at home away from them. Remember again, the first three days are the hardest part and once you get past it, you will have an easier time. I have many friends that tried to stop smoking cold turkey, but could not do it. They told me about some products that they used and were very helpful to getting them to stop smoking. Maybe it would have been best if I had given them a try. I might have had a much easier time of it, but I did quit on my own terms.
I had stopped smoking cold turkey. But if you want to find out about those products that helped my friends stop smoking please visit: Different Ways To Quit Smoking
