Many people think that quitting smoking cold turkey is the most difficult way. Not necessarily, and I'll tell you why in this article.
Let me first start by telling you about me - I have been a non-smoker now for ten years. And every time I see someone smoking or catch a whiff of cigarette smoke, I have no desire to smoke anymore. And there's no reason why you can't be like me if you know how.
So there's two ways to quit smoking - one is to cut down and the other is "cold turkey" as we like to call it. Actually, there are many different methods that boil down to these two different ways and no single method is right or wrong, it depends on the person. But let me tell you how I quit cold turkey.
You first must understand how nicotine works. Let me dispel the global myths for you.
Nicotine is not a physically addictive substance. Yes, I can hear you now saying "what is this guy talking about!"
But bear with me, remember - I haven't smoked a cigarette for ten years so I know what I'm talking about.
Nicotine is very potent. When you smoke it, you are only getting milligrams worth of the stuff. It can give you quite a strong "hit" especially if you smoke quickly or that first one in the morning. But it also plays great tricks on your mind - this is nicotine's power.
When you have given up smoking without cutting down in the past, you have felt the sweats coming on. Maybe you even got some nervous ticks. No doubt you got really irritable and just needed something to take your mind off wanting another cigarette. You threw your pack away but you just had to go to the store and get a new one.
This is the power of nicotine. What was causing those symptoms was not your body suffering withdrawal from nicotine after years of addiction. It was not your body suffering a violent reaction because it has become so dependent on nicotine.
It is nicotine and cigarettes playing a mind game with you. Making you believe that you are physically addictive. Nicotine is so smart like that. But if you empower yourself with the knowledge that it is just trickery (like an illusionist) then you will be able to quit just fine - this is how I did it and how many people have done it, trust me.
